-----------------------------------------------------

Crank is a trail that off shoots from Betty, near the Orem BST. It is a fantastic climb. It switchbacks and contours through scrub oak, meadows, and across steep ridges. It is appropriately named, because the grade, the smooth singletrack, and the length all beg to be cranked.

The Crank TT will start at the turn off in the meadow at the bottom of the trail (I will cairn or mark this ASAP). It will end at the top, where Ireland starts. ( I will also cairn or mark this spot.)

Time trial it any time you want then email your time, date, and bike setup (geared/ss) and name. Any and all results will be posted in this space.

Good luck, and ...

Crank it!

I'm not sure I've done Crank before. I did "love child" to Dry yesterday and saw a cairn off to the left - is this part of Crank? We'll need to hook up sometime soon so you can show me where Crank is. Nothing like another TT to teach me some humility.

Yeah, love child is crank. The TT starts at the lower cairn, where it branches off Betty (reverse Frank) and ends at the intersection with the Ireland. I put a small cairn there as well.

Gonna post my stunning 8:32 effort from the other day?

Does this end at Lament or where Ireland ends? Maybe I'm a little confused by the map because the map shows Ireland merging with crank and crank actually finishing at Lament.

This is the map I was referring to:

Notice Ireland ends where it meets with Crank and becomes Crank as it moves north to end a lament.

The TT ends where Ireland intersects on that map. The upper Crank section is mostly a connector trail.
